Parks Canada is exploring the creation of an environmentally-friendly bike and walking pathway from the Columbia Icefield to Jasper. The Government of Canada announced funding for a proposed recreational trail project with Budget 2016. The project concept arises from the Icefields Parkway Strategic Concept (2009) which was guided by a steering committee with additional representation by indigenous people and the general public. The proposed environmentally-friendly trail is intended to meet the needs of a wide range of users: cyclists, runners and families who may wish to leave their cars behind so they can closer connect with the landscape. This controversial trail is in line with our love of cycling and the outdoors, how could we say no?
